America Recycles Day Drives at our Schools

ORCHARD PARK ELEMENTARY’S USED SHOE DRIVE

Did you know an estimated 400-600 million pairs of shoes go into America’s landfills and yet many of those shoes can still be worn or repurposed?  In honor of National Recycling week November 10-16, please consider donating old shoes to the OPE Green Club Shoe drive.  The shoes we keep from going into the landfills will help others in under developed countries start micro businesses that will create sustainable income for their families.  Drop off shoes (any condition) in the school lobby.  The “Share Your Soles” drive will continue until the end of the year.  Contact Lisa Wilson at lisafarling@yahoo.com if you have any questions.  She is even willing to pick the shoes up.

CARMEL MIDDLE SCHOOL’S TOY DRIVE

The Carmel Middle School Green Club is sponsoring this annual toy drive to benefit the Julian Center.  The Julian Center works with victims of domestic abuse.  Parents will be able to “shop” for toys for their children for the upcoming holidays.  Extra toys will go to Thrifty Threads, a second hand store whose proceeds go to the Julian Center.  This toy drive is this week, November 10-14.  Items may be dropped off in the school office.  Contact Marcia Roberts mtroberts1@aol.com or Chris Cruzancajcruzan@sbcglobal.net if you have any questions.
